Statement
I work with cloth and stitch by employing the sewing machine as both a construction tool and a drawing tool. Images of women are central to my practice. Themes of memory, current happenings, and portraiture are all present in my narrative. Over the past two years, political commentary has become prominent in my work.
biography
In 1985 Peggy Blei Hracho received her BFA with a concentration in Sculpture and Printmaking from The Atlanta College of Art. Over the past twenty years she has been working in the medium of Fiber pushing the boundaries of the traditional quilt. Her work is primarily involved with the Female Image and society’s perceptions of being female. She has shown both nationally and internationally and has work in several private collections.
Currently she is a Pennsylvania Representative for Studio Art Quilt Associates. During her time as a PA Rep, she has been involved with curating shows and organizing a symposium as well as the day-to-day communications with local SAQA members.
